Manufacturing Day 2016

MFGDAY

Manufacturing Day℠ is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Although Manufacturing Day officially occurs on the first Friday in October—this year is Oct 7, 2016—any day can be a Manufacturing Day.

This year we celebrated Manufacturing Day on Oct. 21st and opened doors to over 50 students from the Delta Schoolcraft ISD. The students who are currently enrolled in machine tool and pre-engineering courses were given a presentation on Stewart Manufacturing and our medical division, American Instrument and Implant (AI&I).

Following with a tour, students learned about the machining process, our quality assurance department and shipping warehouse. AI&I Manufacturing Engineer Tom Casperson, finished with a discussion and quiz giving the students an opportunity to win prizes.

Manufacturing Day is a great opportunity to showcase not only what we do, but the various job opportunities that are available in manufacturing today. We are fortunate to hold such positive a partnership with the Delta Schoolcraft ISD and look forward to inviting students back to celebrate with us in the years to come.

Manufacturing Day is co-produced by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Manufacturing Institute (MI), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP).   Partners include Edge Factor and the Science Channel and guest producer, Industrial Strength Marketing.
