Stewart Manufacturing And Employee To Receive Impact Award
HERMANSVILLE, MICH., JAN. 3, 2017 – Stewart Manufacturing and employee Timothy Taylor have been selected as 2017 Michigan Works! Impact Award winners. Stewart Manufacturing was nominated by UPWARD Talent Council Michigan Works!, for playing a leadership role in the demand-driven process to provide local employment and training opportunities.
Luann Dunsford, chief executive officer of Michigan Works! Association stated, “The Impact Awards recognize significant economic accomplishments in our communities and showcases the impact of newly created jobs, transformational training and effective talent pipeline development.”
Taylor, a machine operator who started at Stewart Manufacturing in September of 2016, was one of 20 machine operators hired through the Michigan Works! Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF). The STTF is a support service that identifies training opportunities leading to higher production levels within the workplace and opportunities for new hires.
“Tim came to Stewart Manufacturing with experience in manufacturing and assembly work and already possessed skill sets that helped him progress through training and on to a more complex job,” remarked Linda Laviolette, human resources administrator at Stewart Manufacturing. “His positive approach to tasks presented to him, have contributed to Stewart Manufacturing’s success.”
Both Stewart Manufacturing and Taylor will be recognized at the Impact Awards ceremony on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, in Lansing, Michigan. Both will represent the Upper Peninsula Region Michigan Works! Agency.
