It’s that time of the year again – the time to give! We are partnering with Upper Edge this New Year for the 2nd annual Delta Schoolcraft ISD Blood Drive! By donating you will not only help save a life, but contribute to a student’s education. For every pint of blood given, American Red Cross will provide a scholarship for a student attending the Delta Schoolcraft ISD. Roughly 30 pints were donated last year and a student was awarded a $250 scholarship.
Manufacturing Day℠ is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Although Manufacturing Day officially occurs on the first Friday in October—this year is Oct 7, 2016—any day can be a Manufacturing Day. This year we celebrated Manufacturing Day on Oct. 21st and opened doors to over 50 students from the Delta Schoolcraft ISD.
This month Stewart Manufacturing sponsored Bay College’s new program Inventing with Gizmos and Gadgets. This recent program consists of 4 sessions split into two weeks. Children ages 7-12 were taught the concept of engineering by building inventions – throwing arms, security devices and art machines are just to name a few.
This past December, Stewart Manufacturing partnered with Upper Edge of Delta County to sponsor a blood drive put on by American Red Cross at the Delta Schoolcraft ISD. As American Red Cross is known for their generosity in scholarship programs, they agreed to fund a scholarship based on the amount of pints donated. With the help of many students, staff and the rest of Delta County, 30 pints of blood were collected, and the Delta Schoolcraft ISD will be funded a $250 scholarship from American Red Cross this spring.
With the help of many employees, we succeeded in bringing over 40 students to our plant for a tour during Michigan Manufacturing Week. Delta Schoolcraft ISD students who are currently enrolled in Machine Tool Operations, learned about products we manufacture, who our customers are, and what positions Stewart Manufacturing hires for. Students started with a company overview presentation, then later were brought to see production first-hand.
